Goalkeeper Reflex and Positioning Training
Goalkeepers require specialized training to hone reflexes and decision-making skills. Begin with reflex drills using a reaction ball. Bounce the ball off a wall and practice catching or deflecting it. Another effective drill is the "rapid fire" exercise, where a coach or teammate shoots multiple balls in quick succession, forcing you to react and adjust your positioning.
Positioning is equally critical. Practice scenarios like corner kicks, free kicks, and one-on-one situations. Focus on maintaining the correct stance: knees slightly bent, hands ready, and weight distributed evenly. Work on diving techniques by starting from a kneeling position and gradually progressing to full dives, ensuring you land safely and minimize injury risks.
